Gas Cooking Appliance Installations in Melbourne

Cooking with gas remains a favourite choice for many Victorians. Despite the rise of induction technology and state government moves to phase out gas in new builds, thousands of homes still rely on gas for everyday cooking. For those who love the familiarity, control, and performance of gas, Addison Appliances provides expert installation services across Melbourne.

Our licensed team ensures every gas appliance installation is safe, compliant, and tailored to your kitchen setup. From new cooktops and ovens to dual fuel freestanding ranges, we handle it all — efficiently and professionally.

7 Things to Know Before Installing a Gas Cooking Appliance

Gas
Supply Line

Must be free from leaks and meet current regulations. A shut-off valve may be required. If needed, we can quote and upgrade on the day of installation.

Rangehood
Clearance

Gas cooktops need 650mm clearance from the top of the highest burner to the lowest point of the rangehood.

Service
Compliance

All connections must meet Australian safety standards. Older services may need upgrades. We will check this for you.

Dual Fuel
Appliances

Combination gas/electric ovens or hybrid cooktops need both trades on-site. Addison coordinates licensed gas fitters and electricians for a same-day install. These units may also need an electrical circuit ran to the new unit.

Changeover
Quotes

Our “changeover” pricing assumes your existing services are compliant and your new unit fits. If extra works are needed, we’ll provide clear, upfront costs.

Alternative
Options

If clearance or compliance issues cannot be met, some clients choose induction cooktops, which only require 600mm clearance.

Benchtop
Cutout

Check if your new gas cooking appliance matches the existing benchtop cutout. If not, we can quote and resize on-site with WorkSafe-approved benchtop cutters—even on engineered stone.

Already Have A Gas Cooking Appliance?

  • Great — this sounds like a changeover installation (replacing one gas appliance with another). In many cases we can reuse the existing services, keeping costs down. Here are the key checks:

    Gas supply line
We’ll check that your existing gas line is compliant, leak-free, and fitted with the correct shut-off valve. If upgrades are needed, we’ll provide clear options and pricing.

    Adequate clearance (650mm)
Gas cooktops require at least 650mm from the burner to the rangehood above. If your setup doesn’t meet this requirement, we’ll advise on solutions — such as raising the rangehood or selecting a recessed-burner cooktop.

    Benchtop cutout
Your new appliance must fit neatly into the existing benchtop opening. If adjustments are needed, we can resize on-site — including engineered stone — using WorkSafe-approved cutters. No other trades required.

    Upfront quoting
Any extra works or compliance upgrades are included in our quote terms from the start. You’ll always know the potential costs before installation begins.
